More information

To kick off Maritime Week, we are opening our doors in Wageningen to everyone on Saturday, 10 November, from 9.30 to 17.00. You are very welcome to visit us at MARIN, Haagsteeg 2, Wageningen. There’s no entry charge!

Better Ships, Blue Oceans

Our future is at sea. After all, 70% of our blue planet is covered by water. Let us show you how MARIN can make ships and sea operations cleaner, smarter and safer, and how we are contributing to sustainable use of the sea. We will take you to a future of autonomous and zero-emission ships, floating islands and wind turbines, solar thermal stations, and seaweed farms. We will show you how we help to prevent shipping disasters  and we invite you to visit the simulation centre of the future.

There are lots of fun activities and demos for the children. They can learn to sail a boat and get their captain’s diploma, and there’s a treasure hunt and prizes to win.

Privacy

We would like to point out that photos and video shots  are taken at this event. We use these internally and externally for our own publications and websites. We do not share these photos with third parties, with the exception of sharing through social media.

Access to MARIN

The test basins and work areas are connected by stairs that make wheelchair access difficult. As we are expecting a large crowd, we recommend you don’t bring children’s buggies and strollers. Dogs are not permitted.

Parking

On the Open Day, there will be plenty of parking space for bicycles, but not for cars on the MARIN site. We have arranged free car parking areas within walking distance. A few disabled parking spaces are available on site. Please contact the parking attendant.

Just follow the signs to the free parking in these areas:

  • Eurofins Agro, Binnenhaven 5
  • Menzis, Marijkeweg (Entrance P2+P3)
  • De Nieuwe Wereld, Marijkeweg 5
  • Rijn IJssel, Marijkeweg 20
  • Parking Duivendaal, Costerweg

Public transport

Bus stop Haagsteeg on bus route 84 and 88 is right in front of MARIN. To plan your trip, see 9292.
